The impact of university climate on achievement motivation and academic achievement

The educational environment of universities is one of the most important social interaction environments for students، as it plays a key role in shaping their personalities and determining their future. It is one of the effective social institutions that aim to promote acceptable behavioral values، and encourage positive psychological values and trends that modern society is keen on.To assess the impact of the university climate on the achievement motivation and educational attainment of students of the Faculty of Nursing at Tishreen University.A descriptive analytical study was conducted using an available sample of 226 students from the Faculty of Nursing [3rd and 4th year] at Tishreen University in Lattakia Governorate. Data were collected during the period from September 2019 to November 2019. A structured questionnaire was completed about demographic information، and the university climate was evaluated through a form consisting of 4 sections [the academic dimension، the administrative dimension، the social dimension، the service dimension] and a special form for evaluating the level of achievement motivation، and evaluating the level of educational attainment through student rates.The results showed that the average rate for half of the sample was a good grade. The general university climate was moderately high، where the academic dimension ranked first، followed by the service dimension. Followed by the social dimension، while the administrative dimension ranked last. The level of achievement motivation among students came to a medium degree. It was noted that there was a statistically significant correlation between the dimensions of the university climate and the achievement motivation، and the absence of a statistically significant correlation between the dimensions of the university climate and the student average.
