The Skill of Empathy and its Relation to Methods of Solving the Problem of Low Academic Achievement
"A field study on a sample of Classroom Teachers in the City of Jableh"

This research aimed to study the relation between the skill of empathy and the methods of solving the problem of low academic achievement on a sample of classroom teachers in the city of Jableh, and to know the level of their empathy skill, and to determine the methods most used by them in solving this problem. The research also aimed to investigate the difference between the mean scores of the sample members in the level of empathy skill and methods of solving the problem of low academic achievement according to the gender variable. The research sample consisted of (188) male and female classroom teachers in the city of Jableh. The researcher used the descriptive method and built "Empathy questionnaire", and "Methods of solving the problem of low academic achievement questionnaire". The research reached the following results:
- There is a positive relation between the skill of empathy and the methods of (counseling and persuasion, involvement in activities, building human relationships), and that there is a negative relation between the skill of empathy and the methods of (physical punishment, moral punishment).
- The sample members' level of empathy skill is moderate, and the degree of their use of both positive and negative methods in solving the problem of low academic achievement was moderate, and that the "Involvement in activities" method is the most used by them in solving this problem.
- There is no statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the sample members in the level of empathy skill according to the gender variable, and there is no statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the sample members in the methods of solving the problem of low academic achievement according to the gender variable.
